I just bought a 4001 that has a serial that indicates it was manufactured in 08 of 1974. However, neck pickup is closer to the neck and it has the flat grover keywinds.
Is it possible that this has the wrong serial number?
Could it have been shipped out as new old stock?
Are there other places to look for clues for actual date?
