Hi David. Just an idea the seller you purchased your new Ric from surely would give you a great deal as a repeat customer!

Yes we'd be happy to see you both again Dave and we will of course be happy to do a deal as repeat and valued customers. What about a matching 620/6 in Mapleglo for the Mrs?

Cheers Tim

We both like the 300's Tim!........Funnily enough, we tried a second hand 620 MG in a Cardiff store ( the only one they had )..it had been fitted with a third pick-up but it didn't feel or sound very good...The strings were heavier gauge, ( see how I've got used to the 10's already  ) and the strings just felt tight...sort of no give in them..They also needed replacing....Didn't feel or sound like a Ric but that was just that particular guitar...I'm sure that after a string change and a basic M.O.T it would have sounded fine.....Still prefer the 330 or 360 though ;)

A RIC has no equal. Don.t sweat the subtle negative comment. I had a beef a couple years ago myself. Check out my opening post back in the forum.

David..Uk1971, I thought you might get used to the 10's, that's good you persevered, your getting more patient with age! . But the 10's do give a certain sound and assist in an easy set up, with less tension on the neck.

Spare a thought for me,,, I may have to alter my technique after 45 years of playing,,,,,well maybe! I'm wearing out frets at an unbelievable rate. I picked up a new acoustic 2 years ago, and partial fret replacement has already begun. It's not a Ric thank goodness! Fret replacement is not cheap in Aus, those frets on that new acoustic look like someones taken a soldering iron to them. Mind you I played it 5 hrs a day for 2 years. I did a total fret replacement on a vintage guitar last year,,,,ouch it cost an arm and leg!

I know what you mean JBud........It's been the same with my guitars over the years..My acoustic frets will probably need replacing soon and I've only had that since Jan 2010..The strings being pressed down on them have caused deep grooves in the frets which will eventually cause buzzing............Whenever I've had frets replaced they have told me that they have to replace them all...Having a refret isn't cheap here but it's not extortionately expensive..
The one thing that I always go through quickly are strings.....My hands must sweat acid or something!!.............I have been known to go through a new set of strings within the space of 10 days!

I know that you say you prefer the 330, but you should at least give a properly set up 620 a try. I learned how to play guitar on a Model 1997 (similar to the 330). Several years ago I bought a beautiful 620 in Amber Fire-glo at a local shop here in Houston. Wow, what a surprise! It's really an excellent guitar, with elements of the Rick sound plus a little more, probably due to the string-through-the-body construction and the fact that it's a solid body. Incredible sustain. My wife loves to play it--she originally played a 330 in Maple-glo (sound familiar?) but loves the 620 due to its smaller size and more ergonomic shape. Either way you can't go wrong. Like many people who own a 620, I really can't figure out why more famous guitarists don't play them. To me, it's like a combination of the best aspects of a Rick and a Telecaster.
