Does anyone know what the size is for the small nuts that go on the older push-pull pots that RIC used before they switched to the new, larger style pots? I think they're 1/4, but I need to know the thread size.

They're metric if I recall correctly. I used to use a metric wrench to tighten them, but an SAE wrench for the others.

They may be, but I need the exact size specs all around to order them from McMaster-Carr.

How many do you need Dane? I've a few extra nuts and washers from the Ric push/pulls that I tossed due to my poor soldering technique.

I need 50 of each, I ordered a bunch of push-pulls that didn't come with any hardware. Argh!

50? I'm not that bad of a solderer.

I suppose you could go to a hardware store to test fit several just to get your size figured out.

The local hardware stores don't carry stuff like this unfortunately. I don't think it's metric either as the metric nuts I have don't fit.

For sure the local hardware store will not carry the item, but often has a test board with a bolt and thread hole for every spec of fastener, US or metric. Take a pot in with you and you will at least be able to get the thread size figured out.

I don't know that the hardware store would have a thread check for that though. "Standard" pot threads are 3/8-32 which is extra-fine thread. There aren't many hardware stores (or nut/bolt fasteners) that carry extra-fine hardware.

I've got a couple of stereo pots that have an odd thread, I don't know if these are the same as the pots RIC used. I measured them, the thread is 0.308 diameter, and about 27 threads per inch. This is close to an 8mm (7.62mm) but the thread pitch isn't anything standard for metric (which would be either 1mm or 1.25mm) at 0.94mm. I can't find any imperial threads that have that sort of diameter/pitch either.

Is it possible for you to check with wherever you got the pots to see if they have nuts you could buy?
