Hi - I have a 2011 4003. I'm going to adjust the truss rods tonight - the action is too high and there is too much relief in the neck. I want it to be dead straight. I know I have to wait a day or so to see the effect of the adjustment, but is it okay to play it immediately after making the adjustment? Will playing the guitar right away interfere with or undermine the adjustment in some way?? Thanks.

It's actually a good idea to subject the guitars neck to normal play conditions immediately after a truss-rod adjustment. I do believe it is better to make one adjustment of the 2 rods, then play it and then if needed, make another adjustment the next day. I personally prefer not to make more than one adjustment per day as although most of the truss rod adjustment may be obvious, it is still good to leave an interim period which includes some play time. The next day I then make a final adjustment if necessary.

If the neck is fairly straight you mostly only need a single adjustment, but if for some reason you have a guitar with a major relief or back bow, then in that case it is better to use multiple incremental adjustments over a few days. You say you have too much relief, it may take 2 adjustments to get it spot on. Once your happy with the neck then you can adjust the string height. Ric's seem to be able to get a very flat neck , and are a pleasure to play

Also always use the correct Ric wrench, or something that is the same, never use a right angle wrench. If it is the first time you have done an adjustment on a Ric, don't worry just be patient and make one adjustment, play and put back in the case. Perhaps it is also best only to turn 1/8 to 1/4, if you have way too much relief it will take a 1/4 turn approx and a small adjustment next day.
