I was in the local BestBuy shopping for a printer when I noticed this: It's the packaging for printer paper made by Hewlett Packard. The copy on the packaging appears to be advertising for a custom luthier named Tim Floyd, but a) a google search yielded no luthiers of that name and b) Those are a Colorado and what looks like a Dakota! Anybody have any more info on this? larger version

It seems like a really strong possibility that they just slapped that together as an example and found a picture with a good-looking guitar on it to go with it.

Pretty neat decision on RIC's part to let it through. Says much for the design of the guitar if the HP contractor put this together themselves. Subtle marketing is sometimes always the best. Thumbs up, RIC.

With Cassius and cjj on this - just made a fictional "newsletter" to show off the printer without infringing on anyone's actual IP. Agree that it's cool a Rick was featured. Still floored by that Berklee ad with a Rick.

Which Berklee ad? I must admit that I always (maybe wrongly) think of Berklee types as shredders who wouldn't be caught dead playing a Rick.

That's why I was so floored by this: https://www.berkleemusic.com/welcome/be ... s?pid=4065(Yes, they 'shopped out the trademarked "R" on the tailpiece.)

Their promotional materials have had a number of shots showing Rickenbacker instruments for some years. Perhaps their ad agency like us.

Maybe they deliberately chose a Rick to get away from the hair metal image? A decent graphic design firm won't leave details like this to chance, and for sure the folks at Berklee know different guitar brands.
