i have a jetglo 330 and a fireglo 620 , according to the Rickenbacker parts lists , they both share the same part number for the truss rod cover. Mine are noticeably different in size /shape(although generally similar) . is this normal and to be expected?? Are there different toolings for the same moulded part??

The key question is what year were your Rickenbackers made?
(Which can be discovered by looking at Serial numbers on the jackplate)
A modern TRC should be interchangeable, one made 25 years apart is less likely I think...

Now that you mention it, I think my 620/12, 2009, is different than the 2010 360 I had. I assumed that it was the difference in models.

All of these instruments have had the same plate for many years now. However, if you're comparing modern versus vintage gear you'll see some differences. Certainly 2009 and 2010 models left the factory with identical plates.

sorry, my memory is failing from when i first realised there is a difference. This morning I rechecked and both plates are identical size and shape. The Rickenbacker logo is identical. Tooling ejector marks are in the same place on the component so identical. The thing that is different (and i should have checked this before I posted - apologies!! is that the 'MADE IN U.S.A' size & shape is different. It is actually hard to see on the photo. this is just printed on the cover, so i guess a different screen was used at some point??

Neilcoates, glad you worked it out, both your guitars must be fairly modern. It's much better to have some parts as a standard size between models and years, where possible. It does make life that bit easier when ordering parts.
