Hello. Maybe not JH favorite topic, but I have now found a second bass with similar finish like mine. My 1984 4003JT have white binding under the paint. On another forum I found a 4001 from 1979 with same greenish jetglo like mine with overpainted binding, but with a very thin white stripe on top of the binding. The rest of the binding was painted black.

How longe did this practice last, and have this models got their own modelnumber?

Sounds like it, but it´s not. The color on this basses are very greenish. Typical yellowing top coat.

A refine should be black.

I second Ric5's comment. It's refinished.

Not very long but who really knows now? No special model numbering, just the usual BT (black trim) or WT (white trim) designations which overode the default configuration.

The more modern clear coats don't yellow much under normal conditions so it's hard to imagine what you have.
