Hi, i use a tech 21 VTbass pedal, useful as you can go from a nice clean tone to nice and grungy turning a knob.

Chorus effects : EH Clone theory....I like this one the best.... Tech 21 Bass Boost Chorus is another good one for chorus.
Overdrive/Dist: Ibanez Tube Screamer Bass might be one of the best ...(I don't want to lose that beautiful Ric tone through the pedal)

Regarding the bass vt vol2...id say that the speaker emulation is nice for all the settings except flip top b15...but even with a 1 15 cab...the bass vt kinda misses the b15..anyone have better luck with it?

I run a lot of effects, and my 4003, by far, behaves the best with effects. The richness of the 4003 tone really makes effects shine. Below are some of my favorites:
For compressors, I run either an Empress Compressor or a Pigtronix Philosopher bass compressor.
I love chorus on bass and have played most of what's out there. My favorite is the Earthquaker Devices Sea Machine.
For multi-effects, I love EH's Epitome and Pigtronix' Disnortion (I've found this to be the most universally good-sounding fuzz/overdrive pedal I own. It sounds good with everything from my 4003 to a fretless P-bass.)
For fuzz/distortion, my Rics sound great with my Pro Co Deucetone Rat, B:assmaster and a bunch of old DoD distortions.

I just tried my 4001 with my new Tech 21 VT Bass pedal. It's pretty great sounding. Big, with the sort of mid voiced overdrive that's not too wooly, but not too fuzzy, either.
