I would still like to hear, definitively, from RIC, whether there exists an off-the-shelf tool that will fit a recently built 4003 bass straightaway.

Thanks for your reply, Dazzz. I heard that this tool, which I am awaiting from Amazon, is one that is RIC-recommended:

I'm still fearful that it may not have a sufficiently thin wall, given all that I've heard about folks having to grind down existing tools. We'll see tomorrow, which is when I expect delivery.

Does the tool you're referring to work straightaway? Any interference when you tried to adjust?

This not "Rick recommended". It's similar to the tool we supply but the dimensions vary slightly. More specifically, the socket wall on our wrench is much thinner, ground to spec at the factory.

That being said, with a wheel or belt grinder, it's about a two minute job to convert any number of available hardware store tools to work; I've done it myself many times. Usually though, the problem is that the most readily available tools are short enough that it's hard for the handle to clear the head.

You'll find the tool in our boutique here:

I looked in the boutique once already but didn't see it. I'll have a look again, though, and pick up your tool once I find it. Thank you, Mr. Hall.

They were in stock when I provided the link but sold out overnight. A new shipment is expected in by the end of the week.

Wow! I placed my order last night, so I'll just wait a bit. I'm glad we had this discussion. Thanks again.
