Just hoping for some advice regarding the least traumatic way to remove the nut on my 1993PLUS. The 1st fret action is quite high uniformly across the board and my plan is to remove the nut, sand the bottom down to lower it and then put the nut back in with a little bit of wood glue to secure it.

Do these nuts tap out fairly easily from the fretboard side (i.e. using a small block of wood against it with and a gentle tap of that wood using a hammer) Any need to score the edges with an sharp blade before tapping it loose (like on a Gibson) or are the RIC nuts installed after the guitar has been completely finished?

Thanks for your help!

The nut can be tapped out. However I don't advise sanding the bottom of the nut. I had read that it was almost impossible to sand it level. I didn't want to mess with the individual slots. It's seems they were right. Now I need a new nut. LOL
