Greetings, Does Rickenbacker allow one to send a bass back to them to fix the sticky finish? I purchased RICKENBACKER 4003 AMBER FIREGLO bass back in 2007 I believe, it was also color of the year. I played it a few times but have left it in its case for the past 9 years. I may have taken it out time or two around 2011-2012, but since then its been in its original Rick case. When I opened it a few eeks ago, the clear coat finish was VERY sticky as it seems like its melted! The fuzziness of the case is also getting stuck to the bass. I havent tried to clean it as I am afraid to mess it up.
I'm wondering if I can send this in to Rickenbacker and have them repait it or stip it somehow and repaint/refinish it. I wanted a Rick bass for years and years and love it, but would like to use it again but I cannot because its just way too sticky.
Any advice?
