When I got mine the bridge cover was already gone and the bass was only 6 years old at the time in '73. Never missed it as it would just get in the way of palm muting anyway.

Cheers Marc! I'll keep along with my Rickenbacker cloth. Somewhere safe!

I have a '68 FG here.

I need a case for it. Anyone know where to get one?

Regards to John Hall!

Whats the earliest 4005 out there? Mine is EG 313. Mono jackplate and didn't even have the 5th blend knob.

Wow, you have me beat by just a few months. Mine's EK***, mono as well, but has the 5th knob.

Just curious, is your treble pickup right at the bridge?

Len,

Try getting a case made from Ameritage Cases. They should be able to make you one. My 4005WB will fit into the Ameritage case I have for my Rick Turner Renaissance bass, the only thing that must change is the contouring of the fitted interior.

Yes, the treble p/up is right next to the bridge.

Mine's about 21/2 inches up the body away from the bridge. I thought they were all like that when I bought it, but I have never seen another one that way. I thought maybe it was the early 4005's that were like that, but yours blew that theory out of the water.

Zaack! I just checked the 4005....the bridge is about 1/2" south of the treble p/up.
