Just got a new 4003 and I love it, but I hate the metal thing that goes over the lower pick-up. I can't palm mute!
Use the Mechanical Mute!
Mechanical Mute? What's that? I'm not talking about muting the actual guitar, but the palm-mute method of playing with your the bottom of your hand against the bottom of the strings so you get that muted sound. Forgive me if you already know this and don't need the explanation. What's the Mechanical Mute?

Yeah Pick guardian is cool. Although my wholes didn't matchup quite perfect right away so just let the screws fall in themselves don't start screwing it in until then.
The white one I got was cool with my Midnight blue. but not too great with a flame burst. IMO.

But although the cover makes some limitations in my opinion it opens up new worlds. especially for picking.

There is a screw on either side of the bridge and under the bridge there is a foam pad. When turning the screws, it will raise or lower the foam pad to mute the strings.
