Hi
Has anyone ever used a pickguard from pickguardian?

{Moderator deletes link}

Does any know if they are any good? I'm thinking of investing in one, but I'm not sure yet.

Thanks

George xx

I have the bridge surround on one bass, and at some point may put one on another. It looks nice, but different. The pickup does not adjust as high as I would like.
If you want a standard pickguard I think RIC sells them.

Tony does excellent work. I have several of his pickguards and they are of the highest quality, plus Tony's a great guy to deal with.

I have the replacement for the pickup cover (with the thick clear plastic bit as well) as it was in the way for my playing style.

It's good, although I had to widen the screw holes slightly to match the position of the ones on my bass. There's still room for the pickup to go higher, if I wanted it to.

The only problem I've encountered is that I get a bit more noise due to the chrome plate not being there any more, but this is only noticeable when I stand near my keyboard (LCD screen) and has been sorted with a noise gate. It is very slight anyway.

I worked on a bass that had one of those plastic pickup surrounds ... I couldn't quite get the pickup high enough ... so I shimmed the pickup with a couple of 1/16" thick washers between the magnet and the plastic base thing it was screwed into and then it was fine ...

I agree completely. Tony IS a very good guy to deal with. I also bought a treble pickup surround from him, but decided not to use it. He makes custom guards for most commonly sold guitars and basses and service is very quick. If you want a pick guard or TRC (without the RIC logo, however) that Rickenbacker doesnt make, like blue or red or something, he's your man.

Tony is highly recommended. Don Adamek also makes very nice pickguards for Rics.
